ClockWork Cros creates a kinetic space in his work to add multiple dimensions between the admired faces he uses in his clocks and their admirers. He uses time and movement through his interpretations of iconic likenesses to create infinite interactive possibilities for the viewer. The clocks juxtapose past and future, memory and hope in a constantly unfolding experience. Of the many possible outcomes, ClockWork Cros hopes that viewers are motivated to find their path in life, while seeking time on the face of their idol.
When an admirer of Frida Kahlo interacts with a Frida Kahlo clock, Kahlo’s face looks back and inspires the viewer. Gold clock dials emerge from one eye to represent the eye of time and referencing gold’s common perception of higher value, suggest the pursuit of an elevated future. A heartbeat and an awareness of the heart chakra, respectively, manifest from both the rhythmic ticking of the clock and the quartz crystal inside of the clock’s movement. Kahlo’s presence is cathartic as her heart beats again with the ticking of the clock.
